SkEye Studios visits the Portland International Raceway!

A few months ago we talked to the Alfa Romeo Owners of Oregon, a club dedicated to driving and preserving a legendary race car. They asked if we would make a video about their track days, when they join dozens of other drivers at the Portland International Raceway, to drive their cars as fast as they can. Naturally, we jumped at the chance to film sports cars in their natural territory; the racetrack.

What’s great about these track days is that any driver, of any age or skill level, can bring any car to the racetrack. Honda Civics get to drive side-by-side with the most powerful, most valuable Ferraris, as long as they pass a preliminary tech inspection. We even heard rumors of a minivan that once braved the racetrack. We got to meet the drivers who allowed us to film from the passenger seat while they raced around the track at high speeds.

Establishing a Family Justice Center for Survivors of Domestic Violence

One of our specialties is telling the stories of non-profit organizations, many of which do very important work in our community. One such organization is the Domestic Violence Resource Center of Washington County, which is in the process of launching a new Family Justice Center.

Through the process of developing and filming the video about the new Family Justice Center, we learned that the problem of domestic violence is much too common in our communities. What makes the FJC so amazing, is that it unites counselors, teachers, judges, lawyers, law officers, doctors, and so many other people of various backgrounds, who come together under one roof to help fix the problem of domestic violence.

We had the opportunity to interview the founders of the FJC model, along with a local judge, district attorney, police chief, and even a mayor, all of whom are involved in bringing this new center to life.

Animated explainer videos for NWIC

One of our newer services at SkEye Studios are fully animated videos that are used to visually explain a concept. These videos present an interesting challenge, because every word in the narration has to be visually represented by an animated object or shape. The end result helps the viewer visualize a concept in a new way.

We recently created an animated explainer video for Northwest Investment Counselors LLC, an investment advisory firm that specializes in helping their clients deal wisely with their wealth. We were put to the task of explaining what it means to hold a CFA® designation in the financial industry. In order to do so, we sat down with team members at NWIC to learn more about what it means to be a financial advisor and how advisors can help you manage your money.

We learned so much that we were able to create an animated video explaining some of the ins and outs of what it means to be a financial advisor. Take a look at the final product below:

We’re always looking for new and exciting services we can offer, and explainer videos are just one of our many features. Check out our website to find out what we can do for you.

Working with children at Our Lady of the Lake school

We usually learn a lot from every video we make, and what better place to learn than at school? This month SkEye Studios took on several video projects for Our Lady of the Lake elementary and middle school in Lake Oswego, Oregon.

We learned that working with children is great, because they bring so much life and energy to our videos, but sometimes it can be challenging to capture that energy on video. In order to do so, we used our Panasonic GH4 camera to film the students as they were shooting some hoops, jumping rope, and playing badminton at recess and PE. The GH4 allowed us to film all this action in 96 frames per second, giving us some pretty awesome slow-motion footage.

We also learned how great the people are at Our Lady of the Lake, and that really helped the videos turn out well. We love working with people who are passionate about what they do, especially when that involves educating children. We look forward to future projects with the students and faculty at Our Lady of the Lake.
